Easter Vigil

9:00-11:00pm, March 30, 2024

It is here that "Christ is risen!" is first declared. At the end of Holy Saturday, the final day before Jesus' resurrection, we gather to announce his victory over death!

This service is appropriate from after sunset on Holy Saturday until sunrise Easter morning. This was the traditional time of baptism in the early centuries of the Church. This service begins in darkness and a new fire is lit, from which the Christ candle is lighted. It signifies the light of Christ coming into the world anew at the resurrection. This service ends the season of Lent (and the Easter Triduum) and begins the joy of the Easter season.

We acknowledge that Jesus, the Lord of all, has called His Church to be a Church of all nations. With joy and in humility we gather on Treaty 4 Territory, the traditional lands of the Cree, Ojibwe, Saulteaux, Dakota, Lakota, Nakoda, and the homeland of the Métis Nation.
