Maundy Thursday

7:00-8:30pm, March 28, 2024

This is the Thursday in Holy Week (the week leading up to Resurrection Sunday). The day is a time for remembering The Last Supper. The name comes from the Latin word Maundatum for ‘commandment' as Jesus said, “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another.” There is a foot washing component to this service and at the conclusion altars are stripped of any ornamentation and crosses are removed or veiled to mark the solemnness of the occasion,

In addition, this service opens the Easter Triduum - the three day service that starts with Maundy Service and concludes with the Easter Vigil service on Saturday. The three days conclude Holy Week.

The service will be preceded by our Agape Meal in the parish hall at 5:30 p.m.

We acknowledge that Jesus, the Lord of all, has called His Church to be a Church of all nations. With joy and in humility we gather on Treaty 4 Territory, the traditional lands of the Cree, Ojibwe, Saulteaux, Dakota, Lakota, Nakoda, and the homeland of the Métis Nation.
