Rev. Dr. Calum MacFarlane
Cal, as associate priest at St. Aidan, shares in the priestly ministry with a special role in giving shape for a deep appreciation of spirituality and the arts in the parish. He is a gifted preacher and teacher; his wisdom and winsomeness naturally draw people to him for guidance in prayer and spiritual direction.
Cal received his (B.R.E. Honours) from Briercrest College, Caronport, SK, a Master of Christian Studies at Regent College, Vancouver, B.C., and a PhD from the University of Southampton in England. He is Dean of Arts and Sciences at Briercrest College and Seminary.
Cal is a scholar, an artist, a hunter, a poet, a naturalist, a carpenter, and much more! He is as at home in the work of Thomas Traherne and the poetry of George Herbert as he is in the woods or at his potter’s wheel. He is also a connoisseur of adult Scottish beverages and fine wines. A pen or pipe, a shotgun or hammer, a scotch or pint glass, poetry or prayerbooks are just some of the tools Cal uses in pointing others to the love of Christ and the Kingdom of God.
Cal was born in Glasgow, Scotland, but was raised in Ontario. While he loves the Muskoka Woods, he makes his home in Moose Jaw with his gifted wife, Tracy, and with his three adult children – Thom, Forrest, Mahri – nearby.
